Mississippi's Cancer Mortality Rate is the Worst in the Country
Nearly everyone’s life has been touched by cancer.
Mississippi has the highest rate of cancer deaths in the U.S. In specific areas of our state, some Mississippians are dying from cancer at a higher rate than anywhere else in the world.
There are lifesaving advanced cancer therapies not available in our state, and long-distance travel is not an option for many Mississippians.

The new cancer center building is a cornerstone of our mission to achieve National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation—a distinction held by the nation’s leading cancer centers. The facility will bring patients, clinicians and scientists together, building the collaboration needed to reach that goal.
NCI designation will unlock new research funding, attract top talent and expand access to groundbreaking clinical trials—bringing Mississippians the most advanced cancer right here at home.
